Preserving Frost Effect on Frosted Containers – Sticker Labels

In the world of printing and packaging, achieving a seamless and natural look on sticker labels can be a real challenge. That’s why we were so excited when we were approached to develop a PS sticker label that would match the frosted effect of imported PET bottles after the application of the sticker label.

When we first began our project, we used clear-label stock and applied a single matte coat with the help of our fully automatic, European, narrow-web flexographic press. However, much to our surprise, when these labels were applied to the PET bottles, the spray-painted frost effect of the bottles disappeared and they became completely transparent, defeating the purpose of containing the frosted look of the bottle.

With our 30 years of experience and technical know-how in the field of printing and packaging, we brainstormed for solutions and came up with an ingenious way of applying a double matte coat and a texture varnish to increase the opacity of the matte on our labels. This allowed us to create a frosted effect that was so seamless, it looked like the label and the bottle were made from the same material.

The final sticker label output was a massive success in our industry. When seen from far, our matte labels completely merged with the frosted PET bottles, making it impossible to tell where the label ended and the bottle began. It was a true testament to our dedication to quality and our commitment to achieving the perfect frosted effect on PS sticker labels.
